James "Cap" Collins, a beacon of love and kindness, departed this world on August 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and cherished memories. Born on June 15, 1986, in Wyandotte, MI, James grew up in a nurturing environment, surrounded by a family that adored him. He was the beloved son of Brenda Collins and the late Paul Collins Sr., a devoted fiancé to Jessica Shelata, a caring brother to Beverly Collins and Wayne (Stacey) Collins, and a fun-loving uncle to his six nieces and nephews. James's presence was a comfort to all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt.
James's academic journey culminated in a Bachelor's Degree that paved the way for a successful career in Information Technology. His professional life was marked by dedication and a passion for innovation, making him a respected figure in his field. Colleagues knew James as a man who brought not only his expertise but also his heart to every project, creating a work environment that was both productive and supportive. James even had the unique opportunity to be apart of the film crew for Super Bowl XL in Detroit in 2006.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a man of many interests. He had a profound love for gaming, which allowed him to connect with friends and family in joyful competition and camaraderie. Music was another of James's passions, and he could often be found strumming his ukulele, filling the room with melodies that reflected his gentle soul. His musical talent was a source of delight for all who had the pleasure of listening.
Those who knew James would describe him as loving, kind, and interesting. He had a unique ability to make every person he met feel valued and heard, and his conversations were always full of insight and genuine interest in others. James's kind-hearted nature extended to all living creatures, especially his beloved cat, Masie, who was a constant companion and source of comfort throughout his life.
James "Cap" Collins lived a life that exemplified love in action. He approached every day with a positive spirit and a readiness to help others. His legacy is one of compassion, friendship, and a life well-lived. As we say goodbye to James, we celebrate the time we had with him and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His memory will continue to inspire us, and he will be forever missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
