James Robert Conner

Rock Hill, SC – Mr. James Robert Conner passed away peacefully at his home on October 7, 2024. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Adnah Global Methodist Church, 1 Adnah Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Rev. Angela Pleasants and Rev. David D. McManus, Jr., will be officiating. The burial will be private.
Born at home in West Virginia, Mr. Conner was the son of Roscoe C. Conner and Gertrude Price Conner. After graduating from Spencer High School, Mr. Conner began his career in textiles. He was a member of Adnah Global Methodist Church, served as a Mason member of Corinthian Lodge #416 and of Corinthian Chapter #297Order of the Eastern Star.
Mr. Conner is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patricia Short Conner. Together they have four children, Deborah C. Wright, Rebecca C. Ennis, Catherine C. Grant (Mike), and James R. Conner II (Michelle). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Stephanie W. Martin, J. Kenneth Wright, R. Brian Ennis (Shannon), Eric C. Ennis (Ken Helms), Jessica G. Coggins (Josh), Olivia G. Rose (Andrew), and Jalen R. Conner; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Rose Marie C. Somerville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Conner is preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, a great-grandson and a son-in-law.
Memorials may be made to Adnah Global Church, 1 Adnah Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732, and Riverview Hospice and Palliative Care, 2450 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the prayers and support Mr. Conner received during his illness. Special thanks to Dr. Asutosh S. Gor and to the staff at Riverview Hospice and Palliative Care for all the loving care they extended to Mr. Conner and his family. Also, special thanks to Bessie Smith for all her loving care and attention.
