James T Conway Jr, age 71 passed away February 9th, 2025 with family by his side. His passing came within a mere 45 days after his beloved wife Janice.
He was born September 8th, 1953 to the late Clara (Louie) Hambel and James T Conway Sr. He was the oldest with 11 siblings.
James, affectionately called Jimmy, was a handsome and intelligent young man. He graduated from Reemlin High school in 1971. He went off to join the US Army where he served 1 term of service.
Upon returning home a beautiful, red haired girl (Janice Wilkinson) would catch Jimmy's eye and heart. The two married on May 21st, 1971 and share 3 children together. They stuck it out through many ups and downs.
James began his working years with ROC concrete and Sears distribution center and finally moved on to be a wastewater treatment plant operator for the City of Columbus. Where he remained for 25 years until his retirement in 2015.
Jimmy did not hold back; he said what was on his mind whether you wanted to hear it or not, and that also meant he would do anything for anybody.
Jimmy had a love for jazz and motown music. He also loved to play cards, especially Euchre. He and Jan's home was a gathering spot to watch the game and share a drink with family and friends and their friends were many.
His children remember him as a tough disciplinarian but they understood he was pushing them to be their very best. Even in the matters of oral hygiene, he pressed but it paid off and they never had a single cavity.
Jimmy became Pawpaw to his 5 grandchildren and even to his special niece Riley who also called him Pawpaw along with many children of friends and family. He has a great love for each one and they for him, watching them have fun, dance, and play brought a ear to ear smile on his face. They melted his heart and he could never tell them no. All the kids loved to come to Pawpaws house.
Jimmy is a man who won't soon be forgotten. He was loved and will be missed.
In addition to his parents Jimmy was preceded in death by Janice, his wife of 47 years.
He is survived by his children James T Conway III, Jennifer (Jeramee) Hudson, and Jeffrey (Katie) Conway.
