James A. Corey

SARATOGA SPRINGS - James A. Corey, age 71, of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Saratoga Hospital, with his wife, Suzanne, by his side. For the past few years, Jim bravely battled chronic kidney disease and more recently, lymphoma and sepsis.
Born on March 3, 1954, in Johnson City, N.Y., Jim was the son of the late Charles "Chuck" Corey and Rosemarie "Tommy" Corey. He graduated from Deposit Central School in 1972 as the class valedictorian. Jim went on to graduate from Georgetown University and worked for the United States Park Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Washington D.C. area. He returned to New York State to be closer to family and began his career with the New York State Department of Labor, where he retired as the manager of the Glens Falls office.
Jim loved history, reading, traveling, listening to an eclectic variety of music, and watching the New York Yankees, Giants and Rangers games. He will be remembered for his gentle, humble spirit and the generosity and kindness he showed to family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Suzanne Corey; his brother, Charles "Charlie" Corey (Joan) of Spring Hill, Fla.; his niece, Amy McCathron and great nephew, Connor McCathron of Hudson, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Leonard Miller (Deanna Otteson) of Melbourne, Fla., and Bruce Lipp (Lori Lucas) of Reno, Nev.; sisters-in-law, Karen Miller of Middletown, N.Y., and Patty White of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; dogs, Julia and Brandy; cat, Minka; and many friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the DCI - Rubin Dialysis Center in Saratoga Springs, Jim's physicians and nurses for their unwavering care and compassion in addressing his health challenges. At the family's request, and in accordance with Jim's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services at this time. An informal graveside service is planned for the summer.
