James Howard Cornelius was born October 3, 1943 in Whitley County, Kentucky; the son of the late Ancil Basil Cornelius and Sarah Elizabeth Ball Cornelius. He was united in marriage to Sheila Bowling Cornelius who survives of London. He is also survived by his six children, James Howard Cornelius, Joey Dee Cornelius, Sarah Helen Cornelius Baze and husband Tracy, all of London, Jeffery Lee Cornelius and wife Kristi of Oneida, Tennessee, Michael Grants Obst and wife Mary of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, and Jimmy Ray Flannery and wife Rachael of Corbin, Kentucky; siblings Jan Hoobler of Goshen, Ohio, Basil Cornelius of McKee, Kentucky, and Bob Cornelius of Loveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
James was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired state building manager and maintenance tech, and was a member of East Bernstadt Church of God.
James Howard Cornelius departed this life Friday, December 30, 2022 being 79 years, 2 months, and 27 days of age.
The funeral service for James Howard Cornelius will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Wynn and Patrick Baze officiating. Burial will follow in the Blair Cemetery in London.
The family of James Howard Cornelius will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home Monday beginning at 1 p.m. until the funeral hour of 3 p.m.
Pallbearers: Matthew Bowling, Chris Roark, Grant Obst, Shane Bowling, Keith Bowling, and John Gray.
