James Michael Currie, 69, went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2025. He was born on February 23rd in Charlotte North Carolina, and for 50 years, he was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Delecia.
A man of deep and steady faith, Mike lived his life reflecting the love and grace of Christ. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend whose quiet strength, integrity, and kindness touched everyone who knew him.
For over 40 years, he worked in maintenance at Freightliner as a skilled tool and die maker. He took great pride in his craft, earning the respect of colleagues who admired his work ethic, precision, and apt ability to get the job done.
Outside of work, Mike was passionate about antique cars. He found joy in being an AACA member, attending shows, and sharing stories with fellow enthusiasts. His love for these cars wasn’t just about the machines—it was about the memories, the craftsmanship, and the people he met along the way. He thoroughly loved spending time with his family whether it was hunting, fishing, over analyzing movies, or working on their next project.
Mike is survived by wife Delecia, sons Daniel; Nathan and wife Erin; granddaughter Bay; brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews all of whom will forever cherish the lessons he taught: to love faithfully, work hard, and keep Christ at the center of all things. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Whitfield and Bessie Currie.
A visitation will be held from 11:00-12:30 on December 13, 2025, at Hartsell Funeral Home, 12115 University City Blvd, Harrisburg, NC 28075, with graveside service to follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
