James E. "Jim" Cyphers, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on January 14, 1947, Jim lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion.
Jim spent a remarkable 35 years at Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he served as a Marketing Director before enjoying a well-deserved retirement. His career was marked by dedication and a steadfast commitment to excellence.
An avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman, Jim found joy in the great outdoors, often sharing these passions with family and friends. He was a beloved member of the Greenbrier Country Club, where he forged many lasting friendships.
A man of faith, Jim was a longtime member of the Great Bridge United Methodist Church, where he also lent his voice to the Masters Men's Choir. His strong baritone was a source of inspiration and comfort to many within the congregation.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Cyphers; his parents, Ermine and Kat Cyphers; and his sister, Norma Bourne. He leaves behind a loving family, including two sons, James Mark Cyphers (Ami); & Gregory Scott Cyphers; granddaughter, Savannah Cyphers; and his grandson, Jordan Tucker. He will also be dearly missed by a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date at the Great Bridge United Methodist Church, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the remarkable man he was.
