James "Jim" Hugh Davis, Jr. passed away on January 9, 2022, at the age of 93, in his hometown of St. Augustine, Florida. Jim lived a full life surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living with honor and generosity.
Jim was born on November 23, 1928. He was a Veteran of the Marine Corp and served during the Korean War as an aviation electrician. Later, he worked at Fairchild Corporation as an electrical engineer and a flight inspector.
Jim was married to the love of his life, Jo Anne Weidman (deceased). He is survived by and was the proud father to four children: Richard Davis (Dorothy), Edward Davis (Jaime), Mary Anne Jarriel (Harris), Susan Lacey (Glenn), 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his youngest sister, Patricia Lore.
He told his children, "Never be afraid to try something new. The worst thing that can happen is you learn something". Jim was a successful businessman and owned Davis and Sons Electric and Mini Storage North. He was always willing to help others, and was a member of the Ashlar Lodge #98 F&AM and the Morocco Shrine Center/St. Augustine Shrine Club.
Jim was a hard worker but he also loved spending time traveling in his motor coach with Jo Anne and family members across the country, and spent many summers in Alaska. Sunday lunches were a tradition, with a large crowd or small group, all were welcomed. He was a generous and giving man, and truly enjoyed being surrounded by his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Shriner's Children's Hospital or St Jude's Children's Hospital in Jim's honor. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
