Obituary published on Legacy.com by South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery - Pearland on Mar. 19, 2024.
James Winthor Davis-Hebert, 73, was born May 17, 1950, in
Lake Charles, Louisiana and passed peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, after a lengthy battle with ILD-Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was a longtime resident of Kirkwood South and a member of Sagemont Church.
James attended LaGrange High School and McNeese State University in Lake Charles. He retired from ATOFINA after 42 years. After retiring from ATOFINA, he worked part-time for Enterprise. The friendships he made with those he worked remained until his death.
James married Estella one month after they met in the summer of 1980; their love story is original! During their 43 years together, they enjoyed many outdoor adventures; hull flying on the Nacra catamaran, fishing in the Galveston Bay on their Wellcraft Fisherman, dove hunting in rice fields around Texas; golfing at some of the most beautiful golf course resorts in the hill country and San Antonio area and shooting at the Pearland Gun Club. But most of all, fun memories were made traveling the back roads of Texas on their 2019 Harley touring bike with family and friends.
James is predeceased by his birth parents Mabel Lee LaFleur and Joseph Harry Hebert, Clarence Edward Davis; brother Robert Davis and sister JoNellwyn Davis Clifton.
He is survived by his devoted wife Estella Valdez Davis and her three children whom he reared as his own. James will be missed by Christopher P. Alldredge, Stephanie E. Alldredge Beal and husband Robert, and the youngest son Shawn-Michael Alldredge.
Memories live on through James' grandchildren Austin W. Vickers, Madelynn E. Vickers, Vincente N. Alldredge and fiancé Alissa Roberts, and Madison Beal. Before his death, James met his newly born great grandson John Alister Alldredge.
James will miss his daily telephone conversations with his only surviving sibling Jackie A. Goodfellow Friend and husband David of Austin, Texas. He was an uncle to Robby and Rachel Davis of Austin; JoLee Clifton Day and husband Steve, Merrell Clifton and wife Jackie and nephews and nieces in
Zavalla, Texas.
The family wants to thank the Sagemont Church Pastoral volunteers, friends and neighbors, the Southeast Volunteer Fire Department and medical teams; TheraCare Home Health medical professionals and physical therapists; Harbor Hospice (Kirby location) for their compassion and end of life care. James experienced dignity and peace in his last moments with Estella.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main Street,
Pearland, Texas 77581, 281-485-2711 on March 30, 2024, 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Details are available on their website.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Pearland Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, 8311 Freedom Dr.,
Pearland, Texas 77581 or to a center of your choice. He found Bailey, his loving crazy terrier there.
