James Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 21, 2025.
James Davis, Sr., age 66 of Marion, passed away Wednesday August 20, 2025 at his home surrounded by his devoted family.

Jim was born in Dorchester, MA on April 4, 1959 the son of Francis York "Fran" and Mary "Dolly" (Abbott) Davis, Sr. Jim received is education in Marion, graduating from Marion Catholic.

He was employed by the Honda Corporation in Marysville and it was there that he met and fell in love with Cynthia Sweeney.

Jim and Cindy were married and made their home in Marion.

Jim was always on the go, enjoying one of his many hobbies. For many years, fall Friday nights meant refereeing high school football games alongside his brother Skip and a close group of buddies. Spring and fall were reserved for deer and turkey hunting, while summer brought fishing trips to Lake Erie. Jim looked forward to his weekly golf league - and, as always, it wasn't so much about the golf as it was about spending quality time with friends. He also cherished the freedom of the open road, taking countless bike trips on his Harley knowing it wasn't about the destination so much as it was about the journey.

Jim and Cindy created a lifetime of memories together. Summers were spent at their favorite campground at Lake Erie, surrounded by family and cherished friends. Winters brought warmer weather and adventure as they traveled south with their camper to enjoy the sunshine of Florida. Tradition was important to Jim - they were opportunities to strengthen bonds and create lasting memories. Jim believed that traditions weren't just about what you did, but who you did them with.

His legacy of devotion will live on through his family; his devoted wife, Cindy Davis; sons: James "Jimmy" (Bryna) Davis, Jr. and Robert "Bobby" (Brittany) Davis; his loving mother, Dolly Davis; brother Francis York "Skip" Davis, Jr.; grandchildren: James III, Jackson, Aubrey, Macey and Zoey; niece Mandy Davis and her son Davis Leist; his nephew Francis York "Skipper" (Kelsey Stief) Davis, III; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday August 26, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 251 North Main St., Marion from 10AM to 11AM; Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM with Fr. Daniel Colby officiating.

If desired, donations in Jim's name may be made to Knights of Columbus, 1232 E Center St, Marion.

The Davis family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to long time friend Gary Dewalt for all he has done. Also, a special thank you to The Pink Ladies of the Galion Owls Club for their kindness.
