James Boyd Desper, 72, of Staunton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah House in Fishersville.
He was born on January 30, 1954, in Staunton, to the late Robert Madison Desper, Sr. and Phyllis Mae Jones Miller.
For many years, James worked diligently on the Charlie Obaugh farm, where he took care of the cattle, showcasing love for the outdoors. He particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. as well as riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. James was particularly proud of the time he spent in New Orleans and Florida, where he volunteered in the aftermath of numerous hurricanes.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ann Hise Desper; his daughter, Teresa "Boo" Beth Desper; his grandson, Anakin Zullo; and his brothers, Bob and David Desper.
At his request, there will be no services.
