James Edward Dobson Sr., 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 22, 1933, to his late parents, Elsie and John Dobson.
James worked as a locomotive engineer for over 40 years, for both K&I Railroad and Norfolk Southern. He knew everything there was to know about trains even to the very end. He was kind and respectful to anyone he met, he enjoyed bowling, he was a jokester, and he loved the banjo and bluegrass music. In his family, he is known as, "the giver of nicknames", and known for, his PARDicles and PawPaw-isms. James was a loving man who loved his family, and his wife's family as his own.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosemary Dobson; children, Vicki Wilson, Sandy May (Tim), Linda Stansbury (Tony), Cheryl Schneider, Donna Meredith (Jay), James "Jamie" Dobson Jr., and Kellie Ferriell (Rich); 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
His visitation will be held at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 2:00-8:00 PM and Saturday, from 9:00-11:00 AM. The funeral will follow the visitation on Saturday at 11:00 AM, with burial at Evergreen.
