James Dovel Obituary
He was born on October 29, 1938, and was a son of the late James and Anna Pauline (Redifer) Dovel.
James retired from DuPont in 1994, and was a member of the Weyers Cave United Methodist Church.
James was united in marriage on Jan. 6, 1959, to Betty (Flick) Dovel, who survives.
James is also survived by children, Melissa Gayle Dean, Melony Ann Lambert, and Greg Alan Dovel; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn baby girl; sisters, Doris Roadcap and Betty Funkhouser.
No formal services are scheduled at this time.

I worked with Jim during my electrical training at DuPont. Jim was a great man and always willing to explain anything I had in question in our work days. Jim will be missed in the community and seeing him in his yard as we traveled to Harrisonburg to shop.

Betty, Melissa, Melony, Greg, and family members, Bill and I were greatly saddened to learn of Jimmy's passing. His gentle smile and calming presence will be greatly missed; his absence will be felt in our Earthly realm. We are blessed that Brian and Melissa often bring Jimmy, Betty, and Brian's mother Judith to birthday celebrations, as Bill and I would otherwise miss out on the wisdom of an older generation's perspective since our own parents have passed; our future get-togethers for such will not be the same with Jimmy not amongst us. Prayers of comfort are being sent during this time. Tom and Sharon Akers asked that we pass along their condolences, as well. Let us know if there is anything we can do.
