James Roy Duke, 78, of Reidsville, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at UNC Nursing Center.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Mizpah Global Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Andy Taminger officiating. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, August 22nd from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and other times at the home of his sister, Emily Boing.
James was born in Rockingham County to the late James Nathan Duke and Lalalea Stewart Duke. He was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School. He worked several places, but most people would remember him from Lowe’s Foods in Reidsville, where he always enjoyed meeting and greeting people. He was a longtime member and usher at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and was a huge fan of Andy Griffith and Mayberry. He had a great appreciation for old cars and playing bingo. Since 2011, James fought a courageous battle with cancer and always remained optimistic, showing compassion and concern for others all along the way.
He is survived by his sister, Emily Boing; niece, Allyson Boing Bass and husband, Eric; grand nieces, Savannah and Quinn Bass; brother-in-law, Karl Boing.
