His Journey
James Durant's life began on October 10, 1949. He was born in Pinewood, South Carolina to the late James B. Durant and Carrie Huggins Durant.
James received his education in the Clarendon County public school system in South Carolina. He later moved to North Carolina where he was employed by Masonite (later changed to Component Concepts, Inc.) until 2007 when he retired. James enjoyed being around family, doing yardwork, fixing things around the house, spending time with and spoiling his younger grandkids, and enjoying his swing on the front porch.
On Friday, October 6, 2023, James departed his earthly life when God called him home to be with the Lord.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Albertha A. Durant, daughter, Sharon Durant, three brothers, Raymond Durant, Sr., Willie "Moses" Durant, Thomas Durant, Sr., and one sister, Dianne Durant.
Surviving his precious memories is his three children, Latoya Durant of the home, two sons Tyrone (Leah Ann) Andrews of Kernersville, NC, Marcus Hert of Thomasville, NC; nine grandchildren, Kayla Johnson, Aria Neal, Kinsley Durant all of the home, Tyshon Johnson of Richmond, VA, Kaydra Jones of Concord, NC, Terrance Cotton of High Point, NC, Jamar Little of Thomasville NC, Anthony Hert and Aylia Hert both of Thomasville, NC; six great grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Green of Thomasville NC, one brother, David (Sheila) Durant of Thomasville, NC; four sister-in-laws, Rebecca K. Durant and Julia Ann Durant, Sandra Hughes all of Thomasville, NC, Peggy Durant of Sumter, SC, one uncle, Vernell Durant, Sr. of Pinewood, SC; a special goddaughter, Monica Borders of Thomasville, NC; a special friend Judy Hert of Thomasville NC, best friend Larry Green of Wilmington, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
