James Dyer Obituary

Jim was born November 20, 1943 to Ralph Dyer and Polly Haney; he married Mercedes Joyce Johnson on September 7, 1964, and they spent 50 years together before her death in 2015. Jim had many jobs in the automotive business but loved driving a school bus for special needs children more than anything. He called his bus the "turtle bus"! On the weekends he drove for the prison ministry and loved it.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Polly Dyer, and his beloved wife Mercedes. He is survived by his daughters: Melissa Dyer Cooper (James), and Jamie Dyer Wright Burchfield (Marlie); grandchildren: Zachary and Zoey Cooper, and Jessica and McKaylee Wright.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2024, First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 6900 Nubbin Ridge Road, Knoxville, Tn, 37919. Memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m., with the Rev. Mike Wilkinson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Knoxville.
