Ernest William "Ernie" Miller

Ernest William Miller (Ernie) passed away on August 15 at the Sacred Ground Hospice House in Knoxville. Born on June 10, 1937, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Ernie moved to Memphis after he and Guynita Blaxton married on February 10, 1956. Following graduation from Memphis State University, Ernie worked for Pfizer's Animal Health division as a veterinarian pharmaceutical representative in the Mid-South Region. They lived in Memphis until his retirement in 1998 when they moved to Knoxville to be closer to family. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Bearden, where he served as a Deacon. Ernie was an avid golfer and was fortunate enough to attend the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia five times. He and Guynita traveled around the world visiting Australia, China, Hong Kong, Russia, Israel, England, Ireland, Scotland, and many other countries in Europe. Ernie was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Guynita Blaxton Miller, parents Andrew Jack and Cecil Bell Miller, brothers J.D Miller and Lee Miller, sister Anna Mae Wardlaw, nephews Richard Miller and Andy Miller, and niece Lisa Wardlaw Gray. He is survived by his sister Jacquelyn Naugher, his daughters, Susan (Steven) Wyatt of Farragut, Tennessee, Stephanie (Mark) Crenshaw of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, and Megan (Shane) Medlen, and grandchildren Tyler, Kaley, Mason and Carter of Meridianville, Alabama. The family would like to thank Robert Evan Burton, DO, for many years of exceptional medical care he provided to our Daddy. We would also like to thank Sacred Ground Hospice House for the compassionate care they gave to Daddy and our family during the last days of his life here on earth. The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26 at Central Baptist Church, Bearden with a celebration of life at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bloom Center at Central Baptist Bearden.
