James Elrod Obituary
August 4, 1930 - September 28, 2025
James (Jim) Elrod was born on August 4, 1930, in Independence, Kansas. Over the course of his life, he lived in six states - Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, and California. He eventually settled in Bakersfield, California, where he completed his final year of high school at East Bakersfield High School.
After graduation, Jim proudly served two years in the United States Army. Following his service, he built a long and successful career as an I.B.E.W Union Electrician with Local 428 in Bakersfield.
In 1952, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Elaine (Crandall) Elrod. Together they raised two sons, Bill and Jim, who were his pride and joy.
Jim is survived by his sisters Nora and Joyce; his brother Rusty; his sons Bill (Terry) and Jim (Chanda); four grandchildren, Stephanie, Tim (Nancy), Chris (Amy), and Jake (Stacy); and four great-grandchildren, Ellen, Emily, Jackson, and Luke. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and friends.
Jim will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for family and steadfast work ethic left a lasting legacy.
