Mr. James Leroy Farmer, Sr. of Halifax, VA passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at his home. He was born November 6, 1937, in Halifax County, VA and was 86 years old. He was the son of the late Martha Farmer Pollard. Leroy was married to the late Myrna Temple Overby Farmer.
Leroy was of the Baptist faith. In his free time, he was an avid outdoorsman, in which he loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Farmer was an 11-year veteran of the Halifax Police department where he reached the rank of lieutenant. Following his law enforcement service, Leroy continued his career with Halifax County Public Works as a landfill manager until his retirement.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with Rev. Thad Decker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
