James Ferguson Obituary

James "Jim" Ernest Ferguson of Matthews, NC

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our devoted husband and loving father, brother and grandfather Jim Ferguson, 81, who went home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2025.

He was a man of unwavering faith, a devout Christian who loved Jesus and lived his life in humble service to God and others. He was a true example of grace, kindness and integrity, touching the lives of many with his quiet strength and compassionate heart. Jim was the cherished husband of Sandy, his wife and best friend for 61 years. Their marriage was rooted in their faith in God, love, loyalty and commitment to each other. As a father, Jim was a constant source of guidance, encouragement, support and love to his children, Mark and Sherry. His love extended joyfully to his grandchildren, Bryce and Emily, who brought him immense happiness

and pride.

Jim was born on September 5, 1943, in Logansport, Indiana to late Charles William and Leota "Lee" Marie (Nacke) Ferguson.

Jim graduated from Winter Park High School in 1961. He received a track scholarship to Brevard College, where he received an associate's degree. Most importantly, that is where he met the love of his life. Jim had a very successful business career. He was a computer consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, Deputy General Auditor for Southeast Bank in Miami and owned and operated International Computer Consultants, Inc., before retiring at the age of 50. Jim and Sandy enjoyed travelling together. They spent many years sharing their love of adventure, exploring the country in their RV, visiting every state but Hawaii and many of the National Parks. Jim also enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid golfer, hiker and fisherman. Jim loved his church family at Carmel Baptist. He was active in Sunday School and weekly men's prayer breakfast.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Sandra "Sandy" (Hudson) Ferguson; children, Mark and his wife Tracy and Sherry Ferguson; brothers, Phillip and his wife Patricia and Blake Ferguson; grandchildren, Emily and Bryce; numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at Carmel Baptist Church at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse or the charity of your choice.
