James Beaven Ferguson, Jr., age 79, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 10:32 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. He was born November 15, 1945, in Mexico, Missouri, the son of James Beaven and Bertha Eleanor (Hudson) Ferguson, Sr.
James was a 1963 graduate of Republic High School in Republic, Missouri and attended Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He worked as an Engineer for Paul Mueller Company in Springfield, Missouri, for 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and was a member of the Aurora Fundamental Methodist Church in Aurora, Missouri.
On February 13, 1966, he married Vicki Lynn Batson, in Springfield, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 5, 2020.
James is survived by his three daughters, Kathy Tiller and her husband, Bill, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, Kristy Wyatt and her husband, Tony, of Clever, Missouri and Kerri Ferguson of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Linda Johnson of McKinney, Texas; two brothers, Rick Ferguson of Springfield, Missouri and Jeffry Ferguson and his wife, Georgia, of Doniphan, Missouri; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bertha; his wife, Vicki; two brothers, Latney and Richard Ferguson and two grandchildren, Craig Tiller and Viktoria Norberry.
A funeral service under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Grace Fellowship at John's Chapel with burial to follow at John's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in the funeral home chapel.
