Jim Fischesser passed peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, February 1. He was 76. Jim was raised in Peaselburg, graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1964; he then attended UK, graduating in 1968. In 1969, he was drafted into U.S. Army stationed in Savannah, Georgia and Seoul, Korea until 1971. After discharge, he returned to school, earning an MBA from Xavier University in 1977. In 1984 he earned designation of CPCU. He held various offices in that organization, including President from 1990-1991. Jim coached tee-ball and soccer for his children's teams at St. Agnes, Ft. Wright and served on the Board of Directors of Blue Grass Swim Club in the 1980's. He retired from Ohio Casualty in 2003 after 26 years of employment. Before suffering a debilitating stroke in 2001, he was an avid golfer, playing several times a week. He could complete the Sunday crossword puzzle in record time and was a whiz at Jeopardy – belting out answers before the contestants could answer!
He is survived by wife, Bev, children: Carrie Russell (Dave), Matthew Fischesser (Elizabeth) and Leslie Fischesser. He was proud "Poppy" to Avery Warner, Chloe Anneken and Ada Grace Fischesser. Also surviving are two brothers, a sister as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation Sunday, February 5 from 2-4 Middendorf Funeral Home, Ft. Wright. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, February 6 at 10:00am, St. Joseph Heights, 1601 Dixie Highway, Park Hills. Internment St. John's Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Ky. Memorials suggested to Sisters of Notre Dame Urban Education Center, 14 East 8th Street, Covington, Ky. or Sisters of Notre Dame Notre Dame Academy.
