James D. “Jim” Flikkema, 77 of Elk Point, South Dakota passed away Monday, February 3, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 7, 2025 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. 

Jim was born the son of George and May (Reynolds) Flikkema on December 9, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from Clinton High School and then attended Iowa State University. He suspended his college career to honorably serve in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Taiwan. Upon his discharge, he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. Jim married Luanne Conley on May 3, 1986 in Bowling Green, Ohio. They spent thirty years in living around the US and traveling around the world before making their home in Elk Point. 

At the center of Jim’s life was always his family whom he loved dearly. 

Jim is survived by his wife, Luanne Flikkema; children, Michael (Wei) Flikkema, Samantha (Craig) Chilton, Richard Flikkema, and Rhiannon Flikkema; and grandchildren, Zoe, J.D., Robbie, Evangeline, Ian, and Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
