James Edward Flint

James Edward Flint, 87, of Atlanta, Georgia, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on December 4, 1937, he was the son of the late Theodore C. Flint and Mary Fitzgerald Flint. He grew up in the Philadelphia area and was better known by his family and friends as Jim or Jimmy. He graduated from West Catholic High School after which he served in the Army. He resided in Philadelphia for most of his life working as a development chemist in the area of adhesives, sealants and coatings. Later in life he moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, and then to Atlanta, Georgia, in both cases to be closer to his children and grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Jim would say that he was happiest when spending time with his family. He also enjoyed food especially a good breakfast and an iced coffee, riding bikes on the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey, and cheering on his favorite Philadelphia sports teams, The Eagles, Phillies and 76ers.

James is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Davenport (Thomas), and Gretchen Connell (Jerome); cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Katherine Strobel (Luke), Bryce, Jerry and Jamie; great granddaughter Eliza Strobel; loving sisters Frances Brezinsky, Janet Legg and brother David Flint; as well as many more loving family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (English) Flint, his sister, Margaret (Peggy) Marvel, and brothers, Theodore(Ted) and Jonathan (Jon).

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 27th, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 636 W. Ponce De Leon Ave., Decatur, GA 30030. The service will be followed by lunch beginning at 12 noon at Wahoo! Grill, 1042 West College Ave, Decatur, GA 30030.
