James "Jimmy" Joseph Foley (aka. JJ Nice Guy), age 89, of Brooklyn, passed away on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 19, 1935, to his parents, the late Joseph and Kathleen Foley. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Margaret Foley, Kathleen MacIntosh, Ann Ruble, Sheila Switzer, and Eileen McGreevy.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela; children, Michael (Eileen) Foley, Timothy (Colleen) Foley, Kelly (Steve) Safino, Colleen (Jeff) Gottschalk, David (Taria) Fleming, and Heather (John) Crabb; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, John Foley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. Following his service, he worked for more than 30 years before retiring from Michigan Bell.
Family was the center of Jim's life, and he especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to tell his grandchildren how proud he was of them and how much he loves them. He also made sure to always get his hugs from them. He was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor, always ready with a joke to share. He was proud of his Irish heritage which led to his love of Notre Dame football. He was also a fan of the Detroit Red Wings. He enjoyed fine wine and great company at dinner. In later years, he and Pam enjoyed spending some of the winter under the Florida sunshine.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church in Clarklake on Wednesday, October 15th at 11:00am, visitation starting at 10:00am, followed by interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Napoleon with a celebration of life being held at the American Legion in Brooklyn, where he was a member for 37 years.
