James Eugene Ford
"Jim"
James "Jim" Eugene Ford, age 56, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and quiet joy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bessie L and James A Ford, parents, James E Ford and Jolene Pacala, and his brother, Robert A Ford.
James found happiness in life's simple pleasures-cheering on his favorite sports teams, getting lost in the rhythm of music, and enjoying the timeless charm of cartoons. His stubbornness mixed with gentle spirit and easygoing nature brought comfort to those around him. He even found enjoyment in seeing how far he could push people's buttons, especially with his cousin Maria. Maria and Jim had more of a brother and sister relationship than cousin and guardian relationship. Jim was nonverbal his entire humanly life, but could relay many of thoughts, intentions, and feelings to those who knew him best. Jim was stubborn, and at times spoiled rotten, with a determination to the end; even when sick, made himself known that he going to be the center of attention. Even in burial he is going to be center of attention and spoiled. Hopefully,
Jim is now with family talking up a storm with his newfound voice and walking around freely with no issues.
He is survived by his devoted cousin, Maria Scaffidi, whose care, and companionship meant the world to him, along with other cherished family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Maria would like to extend her deepest gratitude to the owners and staff at Gifted Care Adult Family Home and his case manager, Dawn Brown, for their loving care and compassion during the final years of Jim's life. She also wants to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses, and hospice team at Aurora Hospital – Grafton for their support and kindness during his final days.
A private memorial service will be held to honor Jim's life.
Jim will be remembered not only for the things he loved, but for the love he gave. His memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. Instead of flowers, Maria requests a donation to your local Autism Society or Humane Society in Jim's memory.
