James Fielden Gayle

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Gueydan, LA for Mr. James Fielden Gayle, 45, of Gueydan, LA who passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at his home after his seven and half year battle with cancer.
The family request that visitation be observed at the Matthews Funeral Home in Gueydan, LA on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 9:00 AM until his mass at 11:00 AM. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM. A Eulogy will be read by Chad Elliott. Father Jason Vidrine will be officiating his services.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in Gilmer, Texas where he will be laid to rest with his mother.
James's surviving family members are Kevin Gayle, Jr. (Tiffany) of Youngsville, LA, and two cousins, Brianna Gayle and Michael Gayle who is also his godchild. His aunt, Betty "BG" Harris Gayle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sean S. Gayle and Patricia Fielden Gayle; two paternal uncles, Kevin Michael Gayle and Dr. Terrence C. Gayle; both maternal and paternal grandparents, Leonard H. Gayle, Margaret Sayres Gayle, Theo "Tim" Fielden and Frances Aline Tunnell Fielden.
James, better known as Jamie by family and friends, was born in Baton Rouge, LA, on April 16, 1980, to the late Mr. Sean Gayle of Los Angelas, CA and Mrs. Patti Gayle of Dallas, Tx. After moving away for a period of time, the family decided to settle back in his father's hometown of Gueydan, LA. He attended St. Peter's Catholic School through the Eighth Grade, then graduated from Gueydan High School. James then went to work helping his parents run their bookstore, "Patti's Book Nook" and computer business, "Duck Capital Computers". Computers were one of his favorite pastimes that he developed whilst in school.
James spent a great deal of time on his greatest passion, supporting ALS, the disease that caused his mother's early death. It was through this charity that his compassion for those in need excelled.
Unfortunately, James was diagnosed shortly after his mother's death with his greatest challenge in life. He was such an upbeat and happy person and often showed great courage, never complaining about daily struggles. He stayed strong and in control through it all.
