Jim Godwin, 86, of West Liberty, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Logan Acres Care Center. He was born in Huntsville, Ohio on June 19, 1937, to the late Floyd and Diona (Cook) Godwin.
On July 5, 1985, Jim married Sandy (Oder) Godwin and she survives.
He is also survived by his children, Duane (Amy) Godwin, Steve Godwin, Shane (Angela) Godwin, and Travis (Amanda) Comer, and; grandchildren, Lauren (Steve Price) Godwin, Laine (Ethan) Cole, Logan Godwin, Claire Godwin, Kassie Godwin, McKay Comer, Mason Comer, and Katey Comer; siblings, Phillip (Sheryl) Godwin, Deane (Susie) Godwin, and Nancy (Ken) Novis; in-laws, John and Lisa Oder; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, The Comer family.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Lou Godwin; one niece, and one nephew.
Jim was a member of the West Liberty Lions Club and Logan County Tractor Club. He helped organize the West Liberty Labor Day Festival and tractor pulls for many years and was named Grand Marshal in 2012. Jim volunteered his time on the West Liberty-Salem football “chain gang” on Friday nights and was a Zanesfield Volunteer Firefighter. He loved participating in antique tractor plows and restoring antique tractors. Jim enjoyed camping at Lake Cumberland with his family and friends.
A visitation will be Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty. Jim was a simple man, therefore the family requests that guests wear casual attire to his celebration.
