James Edward Golden, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Houston on Friday, February 9, 2024. Born March 18, 1940, in Chickasaw County, he was the son of the late W.C. Golden and the late Odeen Bevils Golden. James attended and was a longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church. He was a member of the Mississippi National Guard. He worked for 43 years before retiring from International Paper in Houston. James loved working with his hands, whether it was building something or repairing things. He loved attending church at Parkway, and he also enjoyed going to the Sparta Opry. He also really enjoyed mowing his yard. Richard was loved and highly respected by his community, but to his friends and family, he was larger than life, and his memory will be cherished forever in their hearts.
Southern Funeral Home is honored to serve the Golden family.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 2:00pm at Southern Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Randy Rineheart will be officiating.
Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
He leaves behind his caretaker, Kayla Fisher of Houston, and her children, Braxton Young and Kingston Fisher, niece, Connie Moore, and nephew, Randy Golden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. Golden and Odeen Bevils Golden, his wife, Sally Tanaka Golden, his brother, Johnny Golden, and his cousin, Ray Bevils.
