James Dennis Goldsberry, 59, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, of Vincent, Ohio, passed away peacefully from this life on August 18th, 2025, surrounded by family and lifted by the hymn Beulah Land - his favorite song, and a reflection of the faith that carried him through life. He was born on July 21, 1966, to James and Judith (DaVita) Goldsberry, in Chicago, IL.
James was married to Deborah Lynn Yost on February 14, 1988, and she survives. He is also survived by 8 children – Brian (Tayla) Goldsberry, Olivia Goldsberry, Brandon (Felicia) Goldsberry, Jeremiah (Crystal) Goldsberry, Dakota Goldsberry, Caleb (Brianna) Goldsberry, Josiah Goldsberry, and Natalee Ridenour, as well as 16 grandchildren – Nick, Hadlee, Zayden, Jocelyne, Jordan, Calvin, Lincoln, Logan, Destiny, Jeramiah, Gunner, Issac, Caliana, Andre, Carter, and Marshall.
He was a man of quiet strength and steadfast devotion, whose presence brought comfort, steadiness, and joy to everyone who knew him. His quiet sense of laughter filled rooms, his kindness reached hearts, and his unwavering love for his family and faith community was a guiding light. To know him was to experience patience, humility, and genuine care. He lived his life as an example of integrity and grace, leaving behind not just memories, but a legacy of love, faith, and resilience.
James proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, and later was a Firefighter for the Danville Fire Department. He was a founding member of Hope Mission, and a Owner / Teacher at New Creation Child Development Center.
In his final moments, as the words of Beulah Land rose in song, he transitioned to the eternal rest he so deeply believed in - reminding us all that love is stronger than loss, and faith carries us home.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Salm – McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Goldsberry family.
