James Alan Good, age 75, who was born in Dayton, Ohio, and lived in Seminole, Florida, since 1983, passed away on July 25, 2025.
Jim retired from the United States Postal Service after 34 years as a Letter Carrier and was an avid, lifelong member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union, attending all the monthly meetings, and served as President of Branch 599 in Tampa, Florida, for 9 years.
He was also quite the animal lover, especially of cats, having had six over the last several decades; Sam, Squeaker, Misfit, Sasha, and Rosie, all gone over the Rainbow Bridge, and Sabrina, adopted as a stray from the Largo SPCA in 2021, now five years old.
Jim also loved birds and impeccably cared for a bird feeder in his backyard, keeping it clean and well stocked, paying particular attention to adding black sunflower seeds for the cardinals, but was also excited to see the woodpeckers and bluejays that would visit.
He loved working in his yard and was especially proud of his "Buddha Belly" Bamboo, which he purchased in 2014 and always kept perfectly trimmed.
Jim also loved baseball, especially the Rays, and particularly enjoyed attending games with his son Mark. Earlier in life, he also coached the team his sons played on for the Citrus Park Athletic League.
He was also very active in the Boy Scouts, when his sons were younger, and enjoyed going on many overnight camping trips with them and their troop.
He and wife Marilyn relished attending concerts together, having seen artists and bands including Tom Petty, Al Stewart, Todd Rundgren, Jethro Tull, Steely Dan, Beachboys, Bob Dylan, and the Eagles. They particularly loved seeing Paul McCartney and Wings, and Bruce Springsteen, a favorite. A particularly fond memory was when he and Marilyn attended a concert in Cleveland with Larry, his brother, and Larry's now deceased wife, Debbie. Jim also loved 60's Rock, particularly the Doors, the Beatles.
One of the most unforgettable and amazing experiences he and Marilyn shared was a 10-day trip to Italy for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They toured Venice, Florence, Padua, Rome, Tuscany, Pisa, Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii and had the time of their lives.
Jim was the beloved husband of Marilyn for 56 years, loving father of Alan and Mark Good, grandfather to Giovanna Good, Mark's daughter, loving brother to Tom (Nancy) and Larry (Debbie) Good, and son of the late Frank and Dorothy Good. He was beloved by many friends.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 20th at Blessed Sacrament Church, 11565 66th Ave. N, Seminole, FL 33772.
