James F Gordon

Jim was born James Frederick Gordon October 9, 1940 in Binghamton, NY to Ralph James Gordon & Charlotte Cross Gordon. He graduated from St. Patrick's Academy in 1958 and enlisted in the Army. He trained to be a lab technician and spent most of his three year tour of duty in EiderOberstein, Germany - a place that he really enjoyed. He returned to Binghamton in 1961 and worked for Clarke -Cleveland, Ozalid and Binghamton General Hospital.
Jim married Roberta (Bobbie)Jones in 1965 and moved to Poughkeepsie in 1966 where he managed Alamo Ambulance Service. He worked for Alamo as an EMT & Paramedic for many years and then decided to try something different. He had his own construction business, operated Copy Wise print shop, and finally worked in a civilian job for the Dept of the Army as a logistics specialist. He retired in 2002. He joined the Army Reserves so spent 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks on Active Duty every year until he retired after 20 years. In July 2011 Jim was ordained as a Deacon and in June 2014 as a Priest in the Anglican Church. He served as Priest -In Charge at the Church of the Holy Comforter from 2014 until 2022.
During his working years Jim was an active member of several ambulance associations - Dutchess County Ambulance Rescue, Hudson Valley, and the Ambulance Owners Association of NYS. He was a 50 year member of Germania of Poughkeepsie and Past Exalted Ruler of Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge 275. In retirement, Jim enjoyed cooking and honed his skills in the kitchens of the Elks and Germania. He also enjoyed movies, vacationing in the Poconos and Hampton Beach and cooking special dinners for family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Bobbie, his son Steven and wife AnneMichelle, sisters Carol English, and Joan Eldridge (Brian), brother John Gordon (Renee), and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Oxford, NY at the convenience of the family.
