James Joseph Grace

On December 23, 2025, James J. Grace of Springfield, VA went home to his Heavenly Father. He is survived by his wife of 57 years and the love of his life, Pat (nee Culbert) and devoted sons James M (Margaret) and Peter J (Karen). Dear brother to Ellen and brother-in-law to Eileen and Paul Lafata. Cherished grandfather to James R (Victoria), Brendan, Evan, Patricia, Jeremy and Mara. Loving great grandfather to Aubrey.

Jim's devotion to his Catholic faith, to his wife and family, and to his friends was absolute. Known affectionately as Bubba to three generations, he was an integral part of his sons' lives and the lives of their spouses and grandchildren. His commitment to family was felt in their time together as well as his delight in their milestones large and small.

Originally from Wilkes Barre, PA, Jim and Pat made Springfield, VA and Holy Spirit Catholic Church their home for over 50 years. Jim was a University of Scranton graduate, an Army veteran and a Federal government (GAO) accountant for 35 years before retiring in 1995, taking every opportunity to enjoy more of life with Pat in time together and through travel, from Bethany Beach to across the world.

Hold those you love close and tell them you love them. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
