James passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 79. He was a man whose warmth, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Lorraine Dupont Guerin; maternal grandparents, William and Ethel LaBauve Dupont; and paternal grandparents, Isadore and Beatrice Barra Guerin. He is survived by his brothers, David Yancy Guerin and wife Jaye Cazes Guerin; Harold Ray Guerin and wife Paula Billings Guerin; nieces Jacye Guerin and Kristi Guerin Cavaliere (husband Brett, along with their son Isadore William Cavaliere); as well as nephew Ray Guerin (wife Connie, along with their sons Dillon and Mason) and niece Stacy Guerin Richards (husband Keith, along with daughters Isabella, Charleston and Gabriell) and four great great nieces and nephews.
James was known for his big heart, his infectious humor, and his genuine care for others. His remarkable spirit earned him recognition by Iberville Parish's "Men of Iberville" program, an honor that reflected his dedication and impact on the community.
Visitation will be held at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Sunday, August 3rd, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Grace Memorial Park. The family wishes to express that it was a great honor and blessing to be part of James's life and to care for him since his parents passed. James will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him, and especially those in his inner circle. Special thanks to his sitter Cindy and Frank Collins.
