James Dale Guffey, age 68, of Seymour, Indiana passed away September 7, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
James was born March 6, 1957, to the late David and Grace Ellen (Keith) Guffey.
James was a graduate of Seymour Senior High School, Class of 1976, and worked for Culligan Soft Water Service for many years. He enjoyed his job traveling all over southern Indiana.
James enjoyed tending to his flower gardens and watching and feeding his fish in the garden pond. He shopped and placed all of his garden ornaments. He enjoyed spending many trips to Michigan with his loving wife.
He married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Taylor Guffey. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2025. His son, James Wesley Guffey and his daughter, Lisa Dawn Guffey preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents David and Grace Ellen Keith Guffey, sister Bonnie Owens and brothers David R. Guffey and Richard E. Guffey.
James is survived by his sister, Violet Oakley; brothers William R. Guffey and Danny L. Guffey; brothers-in-law Harry (Wendy) Taylor; grandchildren, Emily Guffey and Jacob Guffey; and several nieces and nephews. James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Voss & Sons Funeral and Cremation, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. A second visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM until service time. Services honoring James's life and legacy will begin at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Voss & Sons with Pastor Gary Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, 1603 Shields Avenue, Seymour.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
