James "Jim" Robert Guider, Sr.

April 24, 1941 – January 18, 2026

James "Jim" Robert Guider, Sr., 85, of Lakeview, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026. Jim was born on April 24, 1941, to the late Edgar Guider, Sr., and Bessie Helen Guider, and was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga-Northwest Georgia area. Jim enjoyed civic life and helping others; because of that, he was a member of the Sertoma Club and the Brainerd Optimist Club. He was especially proud to be one of the original founders of the Choo Choo Corvair Club. He always loved working on and showcasing his Corvair. Jim was also a pilot, and in years past, enjoyed flying nearly every weekend. Known as a hardworking and family-oriented person, Jim dearly loved his family and friends. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Guider, Sr., and Bessie Helen Guider; and his brothers, Ralph Guider, Sr., John Guider, Sr., and Ed Guider, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Laura Ann Guider; children, Jimmy (Sherri) Guider of Ringgold, Georgia, Mark (Lorri) Guider of Dalton, Georgia, and Barry Guider of Apison, Georgia; brother, Don (Alice) Guider of Rossville, Georgia; grandchildren, Nikki Faulkenberry, Matthew Guider, Rachel Collins, Ben Guider, and Hannah Keith; great-grandchildren, Fisher, Phoenix, Josie, Jacob, Laura, Riley, Addi, Maggie, Grayson, and Emerson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to invite everyone to a visitation on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a brief service in the parlor at 6:45 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Jim's memory to The American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
