I first met James many years ago, like many of his friends, through football. We traveled and played together quite a bit in the first year of our long and great friendship. I think it would be difficult, to say the least, to find another man that would compare to Puba. I, for one, know he will be sorely missed, and lovingly remembered as a great friend, co-worker, and team mate. My deepest sympathy to all of the family...

To the parents and children of James "Puba" Gunn Jr. I have known Puba through our mutual friend in the last few years ,Coach Gochenour, at Fishburne Military. We have all traveled many places together , shared many meals and good times and I know that we are all going to miss the big guy a lot. I hope that you will all find the strength that you need to accept God's will. I lost my son and I know the pain it can bring!! Be strong and may the Lord bless you all!!!

My heart goes out to Jamie and family. When I heard the news it about knocked me right out of my chair. I loved Puba like my own father. I was in little league and went to school with his youngest and I was right by her side for many years calling him "Diddy" he was a great man and always had a smile. Many of times he let me stay the night with Jamie and he drove us wherever we wanted to go. Before Vera passed she crowned me the name of stalker because I was with this famly alot, Puba carried on that name for years. Find comfort in knowing that he is with Vera once again. So many memories with this great family and we will not allow them to stop here. Jamie, Jeremy and Treva you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Our "Coach"'s presence is aleady and will continue to be deeply missed every Monday,Wednesday and Friday at 4 am at dialysis. Coach was always one of the first people I saw when I came to work at the clinic in which he received dialysis. He was indeed unique and brought a brighter side to my early mornings! 4ever in our heart! "Asumlamalekim!"

I went to school with Puba and am so sorry to hear of his passing. His heart was so much bugger than the man and I loved him. He was my bodyguard at Kate Collins...LOL and nobody dare challange him. One of the true gentle giants!!! He will be sorely missed. My sympathies to Vera and family.

I have had the honor to work beside Puba coaching at Fishburne for the past 5 years. He was one of those old school coaches, and his word was his bond. The work and volunteering he did at FMS is a full description of who he was. He spent countless hours driving the bus, coaching the teams, watching the kids in the weight room during the off season. He also never hesitated when he saw a moment to teach. That defines greatness in coaching. Fishburne will never have another coach or mentor who dedicated his time and efforts to coaching and teaching our young people like Puba. I send out a prayer to all the Gunn family, and I will miss my friend who always lended a hand after a tough loss. The bus ride will never be the same Poo..

I teach at Fishburne and came to know Puba there. He was a wonderful man and loved our boys and wanted them to achieve the best they were capable of. We will all miss him, especially the boys he coached.
