James Franklin Handlin

James Frank Handlin, 91 of Smithville,TN left this world on September 13, 2024. He was born March 20,1933 in Lake Fork, Illinois. This was his hometown and where he attended school. Parents were Myrle and Eloise P. Kilmartin Handlin. He served in the Air Force and was a member of Amvets Post 101. He was a painter in the union for many years, with many other jobs. A special thank you to his caregivers who in the last of his years gave him a great quality of life. He loved his little dog, Cinnamon.
He was a father of four children, Debra Betterton, Cynthia Carter and preceded in death by his son Michael Handlin and daughter Rexanna Murphy
14 Grandchildren and 32 Great-Grandchildren
Sisters: Doris (Jim) Mourning and Myrlene (Donald) Gordy
Preceded in death by a brother: Robert (Moose) Handlin
And survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of many more family and friends
If you see my dad in Heaven, he won't be hard to find for he is one-of-a-kind. A Veterans cap upon his head. A warm smile upon his face, and sitting among the story tellers, and watching the pretty hummingbirds. He wasn't famous in this world, nor did her have any heroic deeds. He was a strong hard-working man and loved to watch sports and be with his family. So, if you see our loved one in heaven, tell him we are doing fine and let him know how much we miss him and we think of him most of the time. Tell him how much we love him, and we will see him soon. God Speed.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 2:30pm till 3:30pm in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home
