James Steven Hartley Sr. "Steve" passed away Easter Sunday April 20, 2025, peacefully. A Graveside service to honor his life will be 2:30 PM Friday April 25, 2025. The family invites friends to join them for a time of visitation from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home 4989 Mount Pleasant Church rd. Pastor Ronnie Hollis Jr. will be officiating services.
Mr. Steve was born April 23, 1949, in Macon, Georgia to the late Mr. Cecil Hartley and Ms. Clarice Hartley Mumford. He was a proud Navy veteran and retired from AT&T, a dedicated Mason, and a man whose spirit lit up every room he entered. Known for his quick wit and infectious laugh, Steve was a true jokester with a heart of gold. He had a rare gift for making friends wherever he went, always greeting everyone with his signature phrase, "Hey Man," and a smile that made you feel instantly at home. Steve loved the simple joys of life, whether it was casting a line out on a peaceful fishing trip, hitting the golf course, cheering on Bulldog Football, or watching NASCAR with his closest friends. He also found joy in hunting and sharing stories with those he loved. He was fun, kind, and full of life. He was loved by everyone and someone who truly loved everyone. Mr. Steve leaves behind a legacy of laughter, friendship, and unwavering warmth that will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife of 21 years, LeAnn Hartley.
Left to cherish his memory are his son; James (Loretta) Hartley, sister; Gail Hartley; niece, Misty (Jeffrey) Johns; Nephew Steve (Tisa) O'Cain; several great nieces and nephews.
