James Jacob Hey, of Harrison, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, just one day after celebrating his 85th birthday. Born in
Cincinnati, Ohio, to Carl and Justine (nee Mueller) Hey, Jim's legacy is one of love, service, and dedication. A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves while pursuing his college education, embodying a spirit of commitment to his country and community.
In 1961, Jim met his future wife, Myra Schneider, at a dance, and their shared journey began with marriage on February 9, 1963. Together they built a loving family and embraced the joys and challenges of raising four children: Regina, James, Kelly, and Carla. Throughout his life, Jim balanced work, studies, and fatherhood with grace, ever-present for his family. He was committed to and completed a 25 year career with the Cincinnati Police Department. Jim was proud to have been published twice in the FBI Journal-a testament to his dedication and expertise.
In 1976, Jim and Myra made the heartfelt decision to move to Harrison, seeking a quieter life away from the city's hustle. On their cherished farm, they nurtured not only crops but also lasting memories with their children. Jim, with a love for the outdoors, filled his days tending to a bountiful garden and riding his horse, and teaching his children the value of a strong work ethic.
Jim's legacy of love will continue through his beloved wife Myra (nee Schneider) Hey, his children Regina (John) Levy, James (Beth) Hey, Kelly (Andrew) Fury, and Carla Hey, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Nicholas, Matthew (Tamber), and James Levy, Maggie (Kurt) James, Jacob Hey, Olivia (Blake) Ballard, Kyle (Hannah) Fury, Ryan (Abby) Fury, and Adam Levy. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Maci and Riley James, and Grayson Fury, along with his sisters-in-law, Marilyn (James) Harris and Linda (Joseph) Beck, and many nieces and nephews who will hold his memory close.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Carl A. and Justine (nee Mueller) Hey; his sister, Phyllis (Joseph) Thiem; and brother-in-law, Kenneth J. (Janet) Schneider.
A graveside service celebrating Jim's extraordinary life will take place at Glen Haven Cemetery on March 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Children's Hospital Heart Unit, honoring Jim's compassionate spirit and dedication to serving others.
As we cherish Jim's memory, we invite family and friends to join us in reflecting on his incredible life-a life rich in love, adventure, and service.
