Obituary of James M. Higgins, Jr.
James Matthew Higgins Jr., age 45, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, after a battle with cancer. James, also known to many as Jimmy, was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Middlesex, NJ, for a portion of his childhood, eventually making both Brooklyn, NY, and NJ his home later in life.
Jimmy's strength, toughness, and love brought warmth and joy to his family, loved ones, and close friends. He enjoyed having a great time, always making those around him smile and laugh. He battled and overcame many hardships throughout his life. He had a huge heart and would do anything for his loved ones. James enjoyed spending time at the lake house in the Poconos, seeing old friends, cooking, gardening, and quality time with his family and girlfriend.
He is survived by his loving parents, James Higgins and Kathy Higgins; his younger brother, Joseph Higgins, and his sister-in-law, Sharon Higgins; his loving nephew, Connor Higgins; his girlfriend, Caitlin Stephenson; both grandmothers; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jimmy was taken too soon and will be forever missed. He will always be in the hearts and minds of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm, followed by a 5:00 pm funeral service at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069.
