James Thomas "Tommy" Hodnett, age 52, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in his sleep unexpectedly on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Tommy was born on September 2, 1973, in West Point, Mississippi, to Judy Hodnett and the late Mac Hodnett. He was a proud graduate of West Point High School and later earned an Associate Degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix.

A devoted patriot, Tommy began his military service with the Army Active Duty at the age of 16. He dedicated 21 years to the armed forces, including 5 years of in-country service and three demanding combat tours in Iraq, where he was wounded. His proudest accomplishment was serving as a Combat Medic, a testament to his bravery and commitment to saving the lives of his fellow soldiers. His distinguished service earned him numerous commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal (5th award), the Iraq Campaign Medal with Two Campaign Stars, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal just to name a few.

Tommy wore many professional hats with dedication and skill throughout his life: Soldier, Government Contractor, Correctional Officer, Volunteer Firefighter, Sheriff's Department Deputy, and Prison Bailiff. No matter the role, he was known for his commitment and passion.

On October 31, 2005, Tommy married the love of his life, Tina Geisel-Hodnett, and together they built a loving family. He was a dedicated father to his sons, Bryson Hodnett and Chase Austin.

Tommy possessed a wonderful sense of humor and brought infectious joy and laughter to everyone he met. He loved his beloved pets Whiskey and Rascal and his former beloved Bama. Family was profoundly important to Tommy. He was universally known and loved, touching many lives with his incredible spirit, and he genuinely considered his friends to be an extension of his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Tina Geisel-Hodnett; his mother, Judy Wilson Hodnett; his sons, Bryson Hodnett and Chase Austin (Megan); his mother-in-law Debra Phelps and father-in-law Bruce Thomas (Marcie); his siblings, Robby Hodnett and Chris Hodnett Jr. (Joy). He is also survived by his "sister wives" Sonya Steighner, Gina Steighner (Brandon), and Laken Knapp (Kris), and his brother-in-law, Eli Thomas (Susan), as well as 5 nieces, 6 nephews, 4 great-nieces, and 4 great-nephew.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Mac Hodnett; his brother, Chris Hodnett Sr.; and his grandparents, Laverne Weed Fields and O.D. Feilds.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM, at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison St, Clarksville, TN 37040.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
