David Hodnett, born on March 15, 1947, will be remembered and celebrated after his passing on September 10, 2025. He is survived by his loving sister, Jane Fisher, and his cherished nephew, James Fisher, as well as his additional nephews, Scott Heri and Larry Ray Cullens. Their lives have been touched by David's humor, warmth, and undeniable spirit.

David's journey began in Abilene, a place that held a special part of his heart. A proud veteran, David served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, earning multiple honors including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After returning home, he worked in the oilfield of West Texas, where his dedication and work ethic shone brightly.

Known for his good sense of humor, David had a unique ability to bring laughter and joy into the lives of those around him. He also formed a special bond with his dear friend, Albert Hartfield, whose kindness and support enriched David's later years. Albert's compassion and friendship were a true gift, and his unwavering care allowed David to remain connected to family gatherings and celebrations during the holidays. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends

David has joined his beloved mother, Dorothy Faye Hodnett, and his cherished sisters, Judy Poor and Jan Cromeans, who awaited him with open arms.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of David's life, honoring his legacy and the love he shared. A graveside service will take place on a later day in September, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Memorial Park, where we will lay him to rest among family. Let us come together to celebrate David's incredible life, share our memories, and honor the impact he had on our hearts.
