James Holliday Obituary James Emil "Zeke" Holliday, 80, of Byesville, Ohio, passed away on January 25, 2025. Born on May 28, 1944, in Cambridge, Ohio, to Emil and Vera (Graben) Holliday, Zeke was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, whose presence was as undeniable as his signature swagger.
He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Sherri Scott Holliday, and his three sons, Jimmy, Brandon, and Zachary Holliday. All three of his sons proudly served in the U.S. Marines, continuing the legacy of service that Zeke held so dear. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Holliday, and many cherished friends who will always remember him fondly.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Zeke served his country with honor and was an active member of the local VFW Post 2901 in Cambridge. His love for life, family, and community was evident in all that he did. Zeke had a deep passion for motorcyclesparticularly Harley-Davidsonsand big rigs, always admiring the power and freedom they symbolized. A true mechanic at heart, there wasnt a thing he couldnt fix, earning him the admiration of those lucky enough to know his talents.
Zeke was also an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump and made no secret of his pride in the "Make America Great Again" movement, reflecting his strong belief in patriotism and his dedication to his country.
Zekes signature stylesleeveless shirts and cowboy bootsmatched his larger-than-life personality. He had a swagger that was never missed, and his love for dancing and spending time with those he loved made him a joy to be around.
Zekes memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorial visitation hours will be held Friday (January 31, 2025) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where a memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Randy Mercer officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the local VFW Post 2901 in his memory.
