He was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School. He worked many years in construction, helping build several of the Lock and Dams along the Arkansas River. He then left that field and became the owner/operator of J-Lee Poultry Farms, where he raised chickens for Tyson for many years, winning top producer numerous times during his tenure.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Dora Lee Hughes; an Angel baby; his parents and a brother, Thomas Victor Hughes, Jr.

They were blessed to be the parents of a son, Kenneth (Melanie) Hughes; a daughter, Tamara (Paul) Stewart both of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren, Shawn Evans, Tayler Hughes, Leah Evans, Meghan Hughes; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Layla Rhodes.

Jim enjoyed cutting hay, gardening, and being outside on the tractors, where he spent most of his time on his farm.

He was a member of Christian Life Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.

He and Dora Lee were also faithful supporters of Tom Cox World Ministries for many years.

Jim will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
