James Elwood Jacques Jr.
July 28, 1954 – July 25, 2025
James Elwood Jacques Jr., loving husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, just three days before his 71st birthday.
Born July 28, 1954, James lived a life marked by adventure, kindness, and service. He is survived by his wife, Kristine Jacques, and his children: Sara, Michelle (Eric), Joseph (Aimee), and Jacob (Leanna), Jennifer (Steve) Osbourne, plus their five grand children: Ryder, Lucy, Amaia, Augustus, and Colton.
James attended Northern Michigan University, where he earned his degree in 1977-and met the love of his life, Kristine.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and the quiet beauty of nature, and was also a skilled ski instructor, sharing his passion for the slopes with students at Pine Knob Ski Resort for 30 years.
During the holiday season, James found great joy in portraying Santa Claus-more than just a role, it became a meaningful tradition. Volunteering at local events and charities, he brought laughter, magic, and comfort to countless children and families.
James warm spirit and generous heart touched many lives. He may have traded in his sleigh and skis for the stars, but James spirit will forever shine bright.
Funeral will be held on August 9th at Holy Family Catholic Church (516 W Lincoln St, East Tawas, MI 48730), visitation at 10am and service at 11am with a luncheon to follow.
