James Dennis (JD) Gordon was born April 16, 1964 in Donaldsonville, GA to Carolyn O'Neal Sheffield, Calvin Dennis Gordon, and Ralph Randall Sheffield (his dad of heart).

JD was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Maddilynn Pendleton; and his sister, Shoana Gordon Obecemea of Utah.

JD is survived by his wife of 36 years, Starla Williams Gordon; four beautiful daughers, Britney (Kyle) Martin of Georgia, Kaylee (Chad) Pendleton of Amarillo, Maggie (James) Brown of Sunray, and Savannah (Andy) Miller of Sunray; four wonderful grandchildren, Hadley Martin, Jasper Martin, Aspen Brown, and Addilynn Pendleton; and his brother, Wayne (Donna) Gay of Georgia.

JD was raised in Southwest Georgia and started his military career after high school. He faithfully served his country for one tour as a United States Marine, a short term in the Army National Guard, and completed his service with the Air National Guard. JD retired from the military with a total of twenty-two years of service to his country. In addition to his military career, JD found his civilian calling at Windstream Communications. His love for telephones is actually what brought his family to Texas. He would often say, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could."

JD also had a God given gift for music. He could play almost anything with strings. JD was the bass player in his beloved band (The Northridge Band) and he also served as the bass musician at Sunray Methodist Church.

Above all, JD was an extremely loving and playful person. He was rarely serious and preferred to joke about everything. He took care of everyone he could and you could see the love of Jesus in everything he did. He is loved by so many, and he will be deeply missed.
