James “Jim” Neal Blanton, 79, entered into rest on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
Jim was born on July 17, 1945, in Blakely, Georgia to the late James Roy Blanton and Sarah Sanderland Blanton. In 1965, during the Vietnam conflict, he answered the draft to serve his country, proudly dedicating two years to the United States Army.
Following his military service, Jim built a successful career in sales, spending over 20 years as a valued member of the Hughes Honda team. His warm personality and genuine care for people made him a natural in his profession.
A man of deep faith, Jim was a devoted Christian and longtime member of The Well at Centerville. He found great joy in singing in the choir and giving his time to various church activities, always eager to lend a helping hand.
Jim had a true love for life’s simple pleasures. Whether capturing the world through his camera lens, exploring the great outdoors, or taking a peaceful drive down a dirt road, he embraced each moment with appreciation. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends, bringing laughter, kindness, and an open heart to every gathering.
Jim's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of faith, service, and love for others will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Blanton.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 59 years, Linda Blanton; children, Brian Blanton (Norika) and Brad Blanton; grandchildren, Cayley Hamborg (Josh), Cara Blanton (David Heaser), and Wyatt Blanton; great-grandchild, Milton Hamborg; and siblings, Ennis Blanton (Joyce), Vickie Hopwood, and Polly Daniels (Wayne), along with many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at The Well at Centerville, officiated by Pastor Tommy Odum.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Jim Blanton to The Well at Centerville at 600 N. Houston Lake Boulevard, Centerville, GA 31028.
