James "Jim" A. Goral, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many, passed into eternal life on January 23, 2025. He was the first child of Anthony and Marie (Tilkens) Goral and was born on July 5, 1938 in Green Bay. Jim attended all 8 grades at St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in Green Bay. After, he attended Central Catholic/Premontre High School, graduating in the first class, 1956, from Premontre High School. As a junior in high school, he joined the Naval Reserve and later served in the US Navy aboard the destroyer James C. Owens out of Norfolk, VA. After service, Jim enrolled in Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, graduating in 1962 with a BFA-Advertising and Design. Later he went back to UWGB to get his K-12 Art Teacher Certification; with Student Teaching in Rhinelander School District.
Work in the commercial art field took Jim to Madison, Kiel, Hartford, and finally back to Green Bay where he started his own successful business for 17 years. The Knights of Columbus was a big part of Jim's life; initiated in Chilton; he was a co-founder of the new council in Kiel; and was its first Financial Secretary. As a member of the Fr. Heiptas Council at St. Joseph Church in Oneida, Jim held most major offices, including Grand Knight. Jim was a Life Member of St. Jude Assembly and Honor Guard; again held all major offices, including Faithful Navigator.
Jim is survived by his loving children: Michele (Laure) Goral, Pamela (Richard) Ouradnik, Denise (David) O'Donnell, and Brent (Camielle) Goral; nine grandchildren: Brandon (Katie) and Jordon Hess, Nathan (Aree'Anna) O'Donnell, Amanda (Terry) Jones, Ryan (Brittany) O'Donnell, Lyon, Stone, Baye, and Willow Goral; 6 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Jane (David) Pilz and Jean Amenson; five sisters-in-law: Arlene (Fred) Kaminski, Jan Bero, Paula (Robert) Koury, Yvonne Goral, and Jeanne Goral; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley Goral, and two brothers: Larry and Michael Goral.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 145 St. Joseph Drive Oneida, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am With Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am, with Father Paul Paider, officiating. Military Honors will follow the service. Graveside Service will take place in the Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
A special thank you to all of Dad's caretakers over the years, including Comfort Keepers and Unity Hospice. Their compassion and kindness brought him much comfort. Also, a special thank you to all of Dad's friends for their companionship since Mom's passing. His "Art Ladies", Widow's Group", his "Salvation Army Gang" and Jean Bricker.
