James "Jim" F. Plumb, born on August 29, 1948, departed this life on November 4, 2025. A man of unwavering humor and kindness, Jim was well-regarded for his loyalty and deep devotion to family and friends. His impact on those around him will be felt for years to come.

Jim was a proud Purple Heart recipient who honorably served in the Vietnam War. His commitment to his country was further demonstrated through his active involvement with the Carol Stream V.F.W Post 10396, where he formed lasting bonds with fellow veterans.

Professionally, Jim was a devoted member of the Bloomingdale Township staff for many years, eventually achieving the position of Highway Commissioner. His work was marked by integrity and dedication, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and constituents alike.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne (nee Steele), and his cherished children, Patricia (Marc) Rohde and Katharine (Jed) Fortuna. Jim found great joy in being a grandpa to Luke Ellis and Zack Rohde, and he leaves behind siblings Heather, Kim, Lane, and Dan, as well as many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward. He is also survived by his best friend and loyal companion, his dog Janie.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother, John, and sister, Hazel, whose memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

As we reflect upon Jim's life, we celebrate a man whose kindness, sense of humor, and steadfast loyalty enriched the lives of all who were privileged to know him.
